Buying from Amazon

I bought a graphics tablet on Amazon. But I always go for free shipping. It arrives just a quick for we don't have same day shipping like they do in the UK, we're considered 'off shore island' in the literature of Amazon. However, the downside is the notice page which shows the tracking, or in this case lack of tracking. It hasn't moved that I can discern.

  1. Ohhhhh, what did you get!?!?! I've had my eye on one for a few weeks now as I finally downloaded AI, and I know I'd have so much fun with it! It's a must for graphic designers, but I can't seem to find a reason to justify getting one other than I just want it. What's your excuse? ;)
Nice pictures. The flowers are a beautiful color. And I really like the fishing one as there is a lot to look at. At first I looked at it in the blog without enlarging it and thought there were people swimming in the water - seemed dangerous! But no, they are not heads, they are birds. I bet they love staking out a good fishing spot.

    1. oops, just saw the link to it. I was afraid it was a wacom...now I'm even greener with envy. :)
I checked out a couple of the less expensive versions which have pretty good reviews as well, but I'm afraid of going cheaper and then being disappointed. I hope you will share your use of it.

    2. Well, I said to myself which makes more sense. With the Pro I get 10 nibs and extra software packages. I get different ones here. I get inbuilt WiFi. But most importantly it's flexible and can be used for photo editing and art. So for the extra I get something that's future proofed.
Plus, I can use it as a mouse, and I've bought 3 of those things in the last 2 years.
Mostly though, I'm one of those types that will skimp and save on lots of things, buy in bulk and drive a car that survives on fumes. I don't need a top of the range telly when one 32 inches wide does just as well. But I do spend when I think it's required like here.

And I can tell you a word starting with B entered my head when you wrote about visiting the Getty. And I meant it too :-). That was my reaction to envy.

    3. I took a class on Skillshare that showed how to scan in hand drawn work and then use the tablet to draw it in AI. It can also be done scanning in very clean ink drawings and the program can turn it into a vector without the tablet, but I'd like to try the wacom. I have read that there is an app that will allow my iPad to work similarly, so I might try that for now.
I'm very curious to hear how you use it in photo editing!
A B word?!?! Bright? Blissful? Those are all good words. ;) Yes, it is a shame that it is here and not there, as I'm sure we will not appreciate it as much as you would. But I'm gonna try!!

  2. As much as I love to fish (second photo) and love ruins (first photo)... it's that last photo that grabs me the most. Excellent use of perspective and ...what's that word? bokeh? Lovely!

  3. Yes, bokeh, pronounced Boo-keth. I do like that one myself. Cyclamen those plants are called, they shouldn't really grow here for we're too wet. These are from places that get either very dry or very cold.

  4. I have Prime so I rarely even look at tracking anymore since I get things the day after I order them. But before I had Prime, I only got notifications when they reached major distribution centers. I imagine you would get a notice when they left the storage facility and once more when it reached the airport or ship yard and then not again until it got over to your island. Even then, sometimes it was hit or miss. The only guaranteed notice I would get was when it was out for delivery.

    1. Ohhh, I'd get Prime in a heartbeat if I got anything for the cash I hand over. Irish people get the privilege of joining, paying, and being billed each year but get not one thing for it.

    2. In your case, probably the only benefit to paying for Prime would be access to streaming movies and television on demand. But from what I've seen, the pickings are very very slim and not worth the extra money. However, the prices for "renting" movies through prime is comparable to brick and mortar shops and you don't have to drive their twice so you could recoup some of the cost by saving on gas.

  5. Like Ed, I use Prime (streaming movies and quick delivery) and have also looked up the tracking on a few occasions. I like your photos--especially the castle.
