This is a stumper.

I was de-crumbing my wireless keyboard before it actually takes fire. So sue me I eat and surf, who doesn't. But why on earth is there fifteen screws holding in something run by a battery that wouldn't zap a fly. FIFTEEN of the little beggers.
Nor is it something that they want you to send in to get fixed. It was €30 if I remember so if it dies it stays dead unless I can resuscitate it myself. But why 15, when 4 would hold the halves together with room to spare.

  1. I'd probably just take the vacuum to it rather than take it apart...

    1. (Chuckle) it was too far gone. It required surgery.

  3. Examining my own keyboard, I see exactly no exposed screws whatsoever. Perhaps that was by design so I wouldn't worry about decrumbing except for the occasional turn upside down and tap on the desk method.

    1. It's when the crumbs grab the ALT or the Shift or thew Z and things go zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. And you have to pullthe battery out to stop it. :-)

  4. Keyboards do get quite gross don't they? I find the constant dog hair to be such a nuisance. Although, the Mac has been far cleaner than the pcs I've ever owned. It has much less spce between the keys and th board so stuff doesn't get stuck underneath the keys.
I don't know about the screws...seems like overkill.

    1. Yep, found Jessy in there too. :-)

    2. It IS cleaner. :) The keys are much lower profile and more like "one with the board" so the debris wipes away and doesn't fall inside. I have to tell you, I am a Mac convert. It is so easy and more streamlined and intuitive. I still use the PCs at school, and now they frustrate me a lot.

  5. Call me cynical but I would not be surprised if there was a lawsuit for it coming apart too easily (maybe people don't do that as much over there, but here in the U.S.it is out of hand) and thus the overabundance of screws. It's also why pill bottles are so hard to open!
