Das Boot.

Today was the first day I could get a go in the boat. And I can freely say I'm not inflatable boat people. It wasn't really fun at all. More a sphincter clenching trip.
Now don't get me wrong. It floated, after a fashion. And I didn't drown, or really even get wet truth be told. But I think I'll be getting a vessel that I can sit 'on' rather than semi 'under' the water. You see the instant you get in the thing sorta enfolds you and your arse projects as a kinda keel down below the bottom.
Maybe by Wednesday my thinking on it will see the fun slash funny side. Still I think any Saturdays entertainment that comes in under €50 isn't that bad at all.

  1. Given your description of the outing, I don't think this would be a vessel for me. But I'll admit... it's already giving me some humor! ;)

Where was Jess when this all took place?

  2. Her ladyship was sulking in the car. And wouldn't come out when I returned ever though the door was opened for her.

  3. I think it is highly dependent on the model and quality that you get. My parents have an inflatable kayak and it is extremely rigid when inflated and you don't sit below the water at all. Of course it cost probably three or four times what that cost and is quite a bit smaller.

But that would be a fun boat to take someplace where you might not be too concerned that the boat survives the trip.

    1. It might also help if I had a life jacket. Next on the agenda btw.

    1. I wondered if any would get the reference to that film. And I did really think sinking was a very real possibility.

  5. So now that some time has passed, do you think you had fun?! But I'm with you - would rather be on something a bit more solid.

    1. No, and yes. I had fun trying it out. But on the water, no. There's a point where you are part of nature when out and about, but here it was a tiddle tooo close to the aquatic aspect fishes have.

  6. Well, it looks pretty good in that picture, but I would agree something more solid in the water would probably feel a lot more secure. It's hard to get going with your bum sitting on the floor of the water. :) I got the Das Boot reference!

    1. I expect if I had real confidence in my swimming ability, then it would probably be better. And if I had a life jacket too. That I really must get one way or another.
