Today the electricity was off due to an upgrade of some sort. And of course I forget the letter telling me it would be off for the 29th and had a tart out of the freezer but with no way to cook it. Then I thought, the BBQ. I put it on the cast iron steak skillet and that worked remarkably well. That I was cooking chicken was a plus.
You know I like the bovine photo...
ReplyDeleteI've been watching a grilling competition show the past few weeks and it's amazing how they can prepare anything on a grill/smoker/open flame - appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Yours all looks quite tasty!
You get a bit jaded in summer with food.
DeleteThat bull looked like he was ready to tangle with you if you weren't "eatin' chicken". There is a fast food restaurant here that uses cows to encourage us to "eat more chicken"
ReplyDeleteThey get this sheen of fat I suppose it is about now. But this guy, an Aberdeen Angus BTW, was really angry looking. Then while I was setting up, Jessy started giving them the evils big time. That's who they are looking at in the image.
DeleteWhat is it about cattle?!?! They are such funny-looking animals but make great subjects. :) He's something.
ReplyDeleteSmart idea on the pie. I often hear about, as Kelly mentioned, making an entire meal on the grill, but I've never given it a go. Looks good!!
He sure is. When I was youngger there was laws that prevented farmers putting bulls in fields next to the road. I'd not heard it was repealed but there you go :-).
DeleteThe pie worked. And better than I thought. I have a bayonet thermostat that showed it got to 170C, so cooked.
Oh yes that pie looks scrumptious. In a future post you might share a recipe and pie-grilling instructions?
