You'd have to wonder just why Hillary Clinton decided to enter one-to-one TV whatever-it-is with Trump. She is in a lose lose scenario. There is no upside that I can see, for her. For him, it's all upside.
Could it be that this night, or tomorrow morning at 2am Irish time, will be the time she can say she lost the 2016 election.
This is the write-up in the local newspaper. There didn't seem to be a whole lot of point in being coy on the net anymore.

The candidates are expected to debate. I agree Hillary would be better off not participating but I assure you it would not look good.
ReplyDeleteGreat article about the photo walk! Hope you have great participation and that all enjoy it. And hope you will take some photos too!
The call I make from this distance is she's fishing with a golden hook. There's nothing she can gain that could compensate for for what she could lose. For I think she's jumping into a pool with a crocodile armed with little more than a long history in a tainted profession.
DeleteAnd thanks, I hope it goes OK. I set up an option for people to give to a local charity too. You see I don't really know the orphanage, or who is running it. We've learnt over the last number of years that caring charities can come with odd backgrounds.
I can assure you I won't be watching - I get far more than my fill of those two on the nightly news. I'm also still irritated by the debate rules that only allow certain candidates the opportunity to participate. It's a bit of a Catch-22 for third parties. It feels like this entire election cycle has been somewhat of a farce.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the article about the photo walk. It's a great idea in general and something fun for any age group. I hope you have good turnout and will share some photos from the event.
It's odd but I expect as a percentage more people will watch those debates outside the US than within.
DeleteI'm on the fence because I'm curious but the reality is I can not stand one more minute of that blowhard being allowed to pop off at the mouth and not get called out on it!
ReplyDeleteI read this interesting article last week about how lame the debates are anymore. Not
http://billmoyers.com/story/theres-no-debate/
And as Kelly said, the rules are not in anyone's best interest except for maybe the candidates, which isn't who the debates are for in the first place. It's frustrating!
Headed off to read your write up! :)
Watching right now. Recorded it so I could fast forward the drivel. :)
DeleteAnyhow, that's a really nice write up! The article and the photo are very professional.
I did not know it was an international walk. What a fun way to spend an afternoon! I hope it goes well.
Does anyone really believe one person wrote 33,000 emails. She'd do nothing else.
DeleteSeems it was the most watched all the same.
I'll get back to you later. I've to bring my mother to hospital today.
The consensus in Europe is that she won it easily. I was listening to it all day in current affairs and news programmes on the radio. Frankly I'm not so sure they have any sort of track record in the prophecy game though.
DeleteI, too, believe she "won". She was certainly more grown up than the other one, wasn't she? Those facial expressions, the heavy sighing, and the moaning and groaning reminded me of ME as a 13 year old girl. It blows my mind that he is resonating with people. My 2nd graders are better behaved.
DeleteI hope your mom is ok.
My issue is if we take the demographic profile of the USA and draw a line top to bottom you more or less at fifty percent you have the usual election. What is happening now is the line is crossing the demographic, and like with brexit it depends how far up his cut off actually is. You see what is missing from the media for they are pitting republicans and democrats and I think trump crosses,so far.
DeleteI've been busy so missed this discussion. I did watch about ten minutes of the debate but gave up. It was like watching two teenagers argue on stage and I just can't take it anymore. I've already made up my mind that I'm not voting for either of those two buffoons no matter what happens in the next 40 days. I'm going with Gary Johnson of the Libertarian party even if he has made a few verbal missteps himself these last few days. He at least sounds sane when he talks.
ReplyDeleteAs I mentioned before I hold many of the ideas of the Libertarians except for a few core ones that would prevent me from being one. But it really says something about the choices if Libertarians are being considered sane. The last time they had a run out was during the 20s and 30s.
DeleteI do think the civil service (big government in your money) has become a self propelling behemoth in most of the western countries. You can't have missed in the late recession that the civil servants were feather bedded to a monstrous degree. Where I profoundly disagree is their fixation with stabilising the status quo, for this simply becomes an aristocracy with inheritance provision. And while what's going on now, and for the last 40 odd years has rolled back the advances post the WW2 nonetheless it's not formalised.
Reading his biog the thing that struck me was the luck he had encountering Intel, and it's needs to build a facility. Yes, he showed talent when he capitalised on that luck. But my issue with him is his policy would block the very Initiative that gave him his start, his real start. Had it not been for New Mexico creating the space for intel and before them other hi-tech industries with sweetheart deals and federal cash he would simply be a man with a van with a few illegals he was paying in cash.
Or to put is another way. New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada cannot survive without vast federal subventions.
Curious about how the photo walk went...was hoping there would be a new post. (hint hint ;)
