  1. I take it the second shot is straight out of the camera? It was the shot I was first drawn to and I can't imagine removing the tower. Amazing background, too!

    1. No-no, the first is straight out of the camera as is the last. The middle is the castle put into the first.

    2. Well you totally fooled me. You did a very good job with your manipulating!

    3. It isn't intended to fool.

    4. Just saying you did an excellent job of making it look natural. I would never have known which was which.

    5. I tried to fit the tower in at the most plausible spot and in far enough that it sit. And like with painting or drawing a house in a landscape it isn't the putting it in but the making it sit down with in the frame of the whole. Frankly with the time it took I'd darn near have built the bloody thing from scratch, and then photographed it.

  2. I agree! The tower makes the picture.
Snow!?!? Is this a recent shot?

    1. The top was from last winter, or maybe the one before.

I was practicing the pen tool in Photoshop. And this one is the very first that worked e-v-e-r. It's a nightmare of a thing to use, but if done well it can transform something.

    2. Oh, I might have to change my opinion. :) If it's not supposed to be there then I think it shouldn't be. With that being said however, I'm very impressed with the editing. I agree, that pen tool is hard, and I didn't have a clue that the tower wasn't supposed to be there. :)

    3. I tried to slot it into a photo that wasn't exactly inspiring otherwise. I took it because it was a lovely day that day with flurries blowing on the mountain. You see the top almost always has that type of wind, mostly far worse in fact. But this distance away, and just looking at it I thought it was an ideal candidate for a little transform.
The pen tool is said to be the real tool of photoshop. But I believe it's brought in from Vectors. But it's mind numbing to get correct. But I think I'm getting there for I've clipped roses and mushrooms to beat the band.
Does the comp' look that natural. I think it looks OK. But I'm looking at it all the time so I know the brush strokes and blends.
Does the 'without' castle look wrong'er' than the with.

  3. Yes it's definitely a transformation. Looks very natural and I like it.

  4. I guess I'm the oddball. I like the first one. I like the sky color better and I think the castle part just distracts from the beauty of the mountain in the background.

  5. I think you do a great job with blending the two photos. We can no longer trust photos :)
