  1. Thanks. It looks as if this could work on most cell phones--iPhones and androids. Interesting. ALthough I love my DSLR, I am taking more and more photos with my iphone.

    1. Yes, they do. But be careful, the lenses from a few years ago weren't of great quality. Not thet it mattered over much since the quality of the image off the sensor was pretty poor. The newer smartphones have RAW file as standard, as well as JPEG. But like with all cameras Light is the definer of quality. If you are outside on a bright day you'll have good results. But when you add the long tele lenses to the phones you are reducing the available light, drastically. Where you are you should be fine carrying the clip-on's , you have way way more light than I have here.

  2. Thanks for the video. I have never seen anything like that but I can certainly see the attraction. I'm not sure I will get one anytime soon though but it certainly would be a compact and lightweight alternative to a DSLR which I hate carrying around on long or rugged hikes.

    1. I'm not sure useful is the word to use. It's more like a fun addition to a pocket. I suspect you could get a fistful of them for $30.
They will never replace the DSLR, well, so far. I think Google is working on a sensor with 13 mpix in RAW.

  3. That's interesting, though I'm not sure it's something I'd ever fool with (but never say never). Good job on the video - I'd have been fumbling parts all over the place. I did see Jess streak past behind you a little over halfway in. Enjoyed hearing the birds in the background, too. I believe I heard a crow cawing near the end? I've been very bird aware lately because they seem to be loud and everywhere these days. Spring coming, I guess.

    1. Yep, she went streaking past to her self appointed position of guard. She spends hours on the bank during the summer.
And yeah, they are darn fiddly little things. Esp the caps.
The birds are in full flow here. I saw a big fat Thrush as I came in from Jessy's walk this evening. And there is a rookery about 400 yards away. Not a big one now. It was very big when we had Elms, but since most of them are gone the space was lessened vastly.

  4. I got a similar set as a Christmas gift a couple of years ago, but as you said, the quality wasn't great plus I wasn't good about carrying them around. I bet for someone like you, who is out, shooting regularly, they'd be fun and still easier to carry than the big camera.

    1. I did a few grains of salt with the macro last night. Shining a cree light on the grains. After I was thinking how good it would be for kids to get a look at stuff. The macro is as good as a microscope, well one that you'd give to under ten anyway.
What I need is a prop so the phone is still. That would improve the situation I think.

I remember you saying that. And I wondered if it would be useful.
