  1. Yes, very pretty. Had a look over on wikipedia and that church and tower are quite old.
Did you make it to the beach as well?

  2. Thanks. No, I couldn't. The tide was in BIG TIME. I'm wondering now if I encountered the high Autumn tides. I was fearful to allow Jessy run out away from me in case she was swept out to sea. And it was fairly calm too.

    1. No, that wouldn't have been good. Interesting, I know it's a different sea/ocean, but last week we had CRAZY ocean issues. I think the long weekend's final rescue numbers were over 1,000. There was a strong undercurrent that kept sweeping people out to sea...even though they had been warned not to go swimming. You were smart to keep Jess away. :)

  3. Beautiful pictures as always. I did notice a lack of windows on that building. Have they all been stoned in?

    1. It's pretty much on the coast so windows wouldn't be the thing what with all the vikings blundering about. But I have more photos of the west gable and while taking them I was saying to myself that this is all new. Or at least relatively so. But the more I look at it the more I understand these could never have been open 'and' have the weight of stone over them. What I could see occurring is a series of arches over each other which would in effect open the entire west end of the church to the light. If you see what I mean.

There are two other building on that site. The tower and a very steep pitched but small building they call St Declan's tomb. Shaped like Cormac's chapel in Cashel. Of the three the tower is about 200 years older, 9th ishy century.

    2. I keep forgetting the age of things over there. We've never had to worry about Vikings, at least until our NFL team plays them in football. It must have been depressing to have to live in a fairly windowless world wondering if invaders might be stopping by.

  4. I love the perspective from which you took that bottom shot. And the sky - what a beautiful shade of blue peeking through the clouds!

  5. Because I was pointing south, and there was a massive storm on the way the sea was reflecting the light up and the sun down. It creates a particularly crisp blue.
