When did they... .

.. . start packing batteries in plastic you need a serious box-cutter knife to get at. And don't try kitchen knives if you value your digits either.

  1. I hate that stuff! I recently bought a bulk set of batteries for school and they were packed in very nice little boxes of 4. They had a lid and everything. No plastic to cut, which begs a wonder WHY?

    1. I had to open a pack for my diminutive Christmas tree and I nearly took the hand off myself. I'd forgotten o charge the other ones.
Thing is I bought them as spare's for the camera but there's no way I could get into them without the Stanley knife.

  2. I find I do best using game shears for getting into those packages. Even then, once I've cut that hard plastic, I've nearly slit my hand open with the rough edge of the plastic just trying to spread it open and retrieve my "prize"!

    1. I know, they're lethal. And for what. You'd think what they contain are used to start a jet plane.

  3. I guess we don't have that problem yet. All our batteries come packaged with plastic on the front and cardboard on the back with a perforated opening that you can poke and pull the batteries through that. But I have gotten plenty of stuff that requires a utility knife to open which is why I keep one handy.

    1. Hmm. We had them but now it seems we're getting the ones that are locked in.
