2016

I'm awaiting the 21st so I can go up to the megalithic tomb and welcome in the next year. Yeah-yeah, I know the Celtic new year began at Halloween. But no matter how dedicated I tell myself I am I can't get that one hooked and sunk in my head.
Anyhoos, 2016 was shit !. I could pussyfoot about with euphemisms, but that is simply beyond what I'm capable of caring about quite frankly. It was as bad as 2011, but different.
It was the kind of year if you were walking down an otherwise dry road and at one spot, rain gathered, and formed a pool. It is exactly at that instant in time a car would come and soak you.

P.S. OK, Christmas lights are up and all those bits I bought after Christmas last year. And I totally forgot I had one of those flashing optic fiber trees. Not a big one only about 3 ft, and maybe a bit, say 40 inches.

  2. I do well enough to keep straight the meteorological vs. the astronomical seasons, much less anything else.

Now that you mention it... 2016 was a bit of a bitch. I'm ready for a new one, too.

    1. I left some of my clocks on wintertime. It was a success but I had to convert anytime I had to be someplace.:-D

  3. I agree with you that 2016 was shit! A ruptured quad-tendon, hospitalization for sepsis after a prostrate biopsy, and now my grandmother dies (I thought she'd make 100). Yep, I'm reading for 2017. I am looking at going to Iona and if so, maybe take a long stroll along the north coast of Scotland. Up for a hike?

    1. Shit, yeah, you had it bad. Sorry about your grandma.

Iona possibly. I might give one of the magazines a bell and see if they want an article with images. The north coast is perhaps the shortest coast, not having too many inlets. And I think some of it is military reserve. But I'll have to see if I can manage it.

  4. 2016 was a rough one, not for me personally with anything that was all that bad (just some irritants, but that's normal), but in general - a lot of notable deaths, some mind blowing decisions, in general I hope 2017 looks up. The year flew by though, and that is discouraging as I'm not ready for them to go that fast!
What is the 21st? Why is that a New Year?

    1. Hmm, I suspect Trump alone would have been enough for you. :-)

  5. For me it was a year of ups (Chicago Cubs won the World Series) and downs (Donald Trump was elected president) -- like most years. I think we have a good system in place of turning over a new page every 365 days or so and making a new start, if only in a figurative sense. (I would love to join Sage and you on that hike!)

    1. Yeah, tiz more a mental thing. But it can seem as if things are piling up. And as I said, another year wouldn't seem so inundated. More Vit B and D perhaps.
