More things to learn

Googles Nik's Collection was made free over the weekend. They were charging €150/$150 for it. Of course being a cynic I think Google were left with little choice when three thousand and ten app's in the store are doing the very same thing only better. But it is a nice addition to a toolbox albeit a good 80 hours of study to get the thing hooked into the brain.
This is a pert of what it does.

  1. I've not heard of the Nik Collection before. That's quite a price reduction! Tried to get a little info about it before commenting. Are the different parts like filters?
Nice shots. It looks like it's chilly.

  2. Yes and no. They are entirely stand alone programme. Powerful, but relatively light on the system. The silver efx and the sharpening are the only ones I know a bit about. They were seen as useful but pricey for your usage might be twenty photos a year. Tbh,I'm a bit lost myself.

And no, not chilly at all, but the adjustments made it look so.

    1. And will you use in conjunction with Lightroom or photoshop or as an alternative to those? I'm glad to hear they're light on the system...I might have to try it. Such a bargain!

    2. Yes, it sits as an extra in both Lightroom and Photoshop. And it should sit well enough with the PS you've got too. But I'm not certain of that. I have a suspicion it will though.

  3. As much as I like photos of ruins, I'm particularly drawn to that second shot. Lovely!

    1. I put a title of WW1 on it for it seemed so darn cold.

  4. I do like the photos and am surprised with the comments that it was not cold--it looks that way. I don't know anything about Google Niks.

    1. Ahh that was me on the tablet where I can't comment from the google a/c and must use Anonymous.

The day itself was quite warm for a March day here. That's why I said the conversion to B&W made is really freezing, at least it looks so. And using the NIKs pushed the contrast and made is look like a 1910 photo. At least in my mind anyway :-).
