Yikes !

You'd think I couldn't draw a thing.

  1. I take it this is something connected to your new gadget? Interesting, to say the least...

    1. Yep, it's my first effort to do some 'art' with it. I'll tell you this though, I remember this fellow from dreams as a child. But I don't know what made me decide on yellow eyes.

  2. It's such a different experience on the tablet isn't it?!? It's a good start though. A lot of artists say there's definitely a learning curve.
Yikes is right! That's a terribly dream! ;)
I broke down and got one this week. Wacom released a new series called Art just last month (replacing Bamboo). It's certainly not the top of the line, but I've enjoyed playing around with it the last few days. The pen is much easier than the stubby stylus.

    1. I had a feeling you might get one :-D. And it's certainly not bottom of the line either. You have a good instrument in your hands. Yes, it'll take a while to get the hand and eye in, but once there I expect it to expand use exponentially. Do you think it's save you money in the long run ?. I'm expecting to be able to go into art shops without leaving with a bag full of shit I may, but mostly don't need. I have a long foxhair brush I've only ever used to get dust off a lense, it's never even seen paint. I needed India ink for it, not the pen ink I have on a shelf. India ink !.

    2. yah, it didn't take long to talk myself into it, did it? :) The reviews were good enough along with the price, which made me feel better about it. I've enjoyed using it in AI, but as mentioned above there's a learning curve. I've been trying to just get basic shapes to close by matching two end points. There's more research to be done as I haven't figured out how to shade or blend anything. There's got to be a way, but so far I'm only able to get that straight line vector look.
I could see how it might substitute for the art supplies, but I think I might miss painting, especially the water colors, too much. My mind may change if I can figure out how to do that digitally. I do find painting very relaxing and right now I can barely make a circle on the tablet, so I wouldn't say it's stress relieving. :)
It'll be nice not to buy brushes anymore though wouldn't it. I dont ever mind buying paint, but the cost of a good brush is limiting.
